Sammanfattning

Out of hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) has a poor prognosis. We prospectively recorded data on all patients with OHCA in Copenhagen in two periods before and after implementation of the new 2005 ERC resuscitation guidelines. We found that 30-day survival increased after the implementation from 8.3% to 16%, p = 0.001. There was no difference in the proportion of cardiac arrests treated, but other changes may have occurred such as increasing use of coronary intervention. The proportion with return of spontaneous circulation at hospital admission did, however, also increase significantly.
