This article describes how the appointment of a clinical nursing specialist generated a number of experiences relevant to the development of nursing care. The background for the appointment, and several work areas and cooperation interfaces in which the clinical nurse specialist plays a part are presented. Including the opportunities and barriers in this professional position. Finally, an actual project is reviewed. From this it is apparent that the observations and deliberations of a clinical nurse can result in the establishment and implementation of a project by the clinical nurse specialist, who acts as Project Responsible with tasks including reporting and subsequent implementation in practice.
