The article presents a focus week as a method of competency development in communication and feedback. The method was developed in connection with a competency-development program for nurses in the Gynaecological Clinic at Rigshospitalet, and has received highly positive evaluation by both the ward and the participants. In the focus week, nurses focus on communication and feedback throughout the ward over a one-week period. The nurses are allocated teams, visit patients together, and give direct feedback on the communication process after the patient contact. A "reflection" sheet guides feedback in the direction in which the ward has chosen to focus.
