Sammanfattning

Two weeks of dysphagia or pain during swallowing are cardinal symptoms that trigger immediate referral to a specialist department, where the patient undergo endoscopy and eventual biopsy of the upper GI tract to rule out cancerous disease. In this case, a 90-year old woman was referred, due to month long pain during swallowing. Due to co-morbidity diagnostic CT-scan was performed, which revealed a vessel anomaly behind the proximal oesophagus. The symptoms were caused by arteriosclerosis in this vessel. The condition is termed dysphagia lusoria and is benign.
