Sammanfattning
The article would make the reader aware of the vulnerability of children in
violent communities and in war, today more than ever. Insecurity and traumatic
memories threaten to destroy their living conditions. They are expected
to deal with the separation from parents, siblings and friends, and create a
new life in a foreign culture. They are strangers to us and it is easy to be influenced
by prejudices, ignorance and lies about them. Our perception colors
our attitude consciously or unconsciously. Refugee children have the same
rights and needs of all children in Sweden. The difference is that these children
have lost a prerequisite for their development, namely a safe childhood.
Hence the need for something extra from us faces them in our everyday lives.
With the right attitude and guidance - and, if necessary treatment - kids can
go on with their lives.
