Sammanfattning
Based on personal interviews (N=40) with unemployed youth and participant observations, the
meaning of mental and social support given at youth workshops is studied. Using content analysis
on the research material, the study shows that the participants feel the workshops have succeeded
well in supporting them. The study relies on theories of the importance of supportive encounters as
well as having a «sense of coherence». The concept of the workshops builds on support, given in a
nice environment, focusing on a respectful and positive engagement.
