Sammanfattning
We present a patient in which the colon and left kidney herniated through a left-sided diaphragmatic hernia. The cause of the hernia was unknown, although most likely it emanated from an earlier diaphragmatic rupture caused by trauma. Due to a diverticular stenosis of the sigmoid colon, the patient developed large bowel obstruction, causing displacement of mediastinal structures. Emergency laparotomy and anterolateral thoracotomy was performed.
