Sammanfattning
The WHO classifications of diseases are used all over the
World in order to secure uniform diagnostics and thereby
possibilities to compare studies from different institutions.
This enables uniform and optimal treatment of patients suffering
from the same disease. A new classification of head
and neck tumors appeared in early 2017, and several changes
are important for dentists’ diagnostic work and thereby treatment
decisions. In this article, the classification of jaw cysts,
odontogenic tumors and potential malignant disorders are
reviewed with special focus on new entities and changes
compared to previous classifications.
