Sammanfattning

Nurses may be uncertain as to whether a child has been subjected to sexual abuse. The primary aim of this article is consequently to provide a concise inventory of indicators of, and possible reactions to, sexual abuse in minors under the age of 18. The perpetrators of child sexual abuse may be women, which is an extremely taboo and overlooked problem. Children subjected to abuse by women naturally have the right to the same standard of professional care as they would if the perpetrator were male. Child victims will more readily reveal sexual abuse if they perceive that there is an appropriate occasion, context and purpose for their disclosure.
