"Ingen vet hvem du er" – flyktningers opplevelse av omstillingsprosessen i Norge
Sammanfattning
In this study we have explored what people who came to Norway as refugees experienced as contributing to their readjustment in a new country. We conducted ten semi-structured qualitative interviews with people who came to Norway as refugees. The participants experienced that their own efforts (personality, motivation, and traits), interpersonal encounters (being seen as a unique person and not only a representative for a group), and opportunities to participate in the host country were important in the process of readjustment. Our findings shed light on the efforts these participants put into the readjustment process, but also show how the host country can ease readjustment through structural measures, such as time spent in reception centers, possibilities to learn the language and get employment, and by facilitating genuine meetings between people.
