Sammanfattning
The delivery suite has the dual function of dealing with life-threatening emergencies and creating a relaxed atmosphere for normal childbirth. It demands labour ward staffs with a high degree of professional knowledge and skills who are competent in clinical problem solving, communication and cooperation. Obstetric training in single skills and multiprofessional team training are discussed and recommended. The importance of developing research into methods of evaluating the effects of training programmes is emphasized.
