Sammanfattning
If the work of the Malmö Commission shall lead to a more equitable city, what
is the most important thing to do? Well, it is linking the two overarching recommendations
to each other. The one of the recommendations reflects a
new way of thinking about the economy and is ultimately intended to alter the
relationship between growth and welfare. Malmö needs to adjust to a growth
based mainly on the production of new values and not on speculation. The
actual production of these new values should occur in organisational structures
which promote development and learning. This is precisely what that the
second recommendation is all about through the creation of knowledge alliances.
In fact, it makes us more qualified as consumers. It can make us demand
products and services of higher quality, organic and fair trade. This demand is
of importance in steering growth in a more need-based direction. Knowledge
alliances is an end in itself by strengthening societal participation, but can also
be crucial in the readjustment of both growth and welfare.
