Effekt av utskifting av amalgamfyllinger ved symptomer og sykdom som relateres til
amalgamfyllinger
Sammanfattning
A health technology assessment has been performed consisting of a systematic review of available published scientific literature on possible health effect of replacing amalgam fillings. Few good controlled studies were identified making the evidence base weak on this subject. Out of 1,647 abstracts 17 publications were found to be of sufficient quality to be considered. The main finding was that lesions in the oral mucosa next to amalgam fillings to a great extent resolve (heal) after the amalgam filling has been removed. The level of general symptoms were reduced after amalgam removal but remained higher than in a comparative control group. There is a transient increase in urine mercury after amalgam removal. «Patch test» used to diagnose mercury allergy was not always conclusive in the included studies.
