Sammanfattning
The development of evidence-based practice (EBP) requires that the practice be given priority, that research is made accessible within the organisation and that clinical nurses are offered training in the knowledge and use of research.
Based on a review of literature from foreign studies and a Danish pilot study, this article shows that clinical nurses perceive research literature as inaccessible and difficult to understand, difficult to read and evaluate the quality of. They also find that they do not have enough time or facilities for the introduction of evidence-based activities.
If EBP is to become a systematic and integrated process in daily clinical practice, it is necessary for clinical nursing practice managers to identify the barriers at a local level with a view to developing strategies for training and research, participation in research activities and the implementation of research. They must subsequently evaluate whether the clinical nurses' perception of the barriers to the use of research is reduced or eliminated and the strategies must be continuously adjusted to further promote the development of EBP.
