Sammanfattning

Two patients, 65 and 71 years old, were diagnosed with vital mandibular incisior fractures in the cervical region. Both patients’ incisors were root filled. One patient received a metal post and the other a metal-ceramic crown. In the first patient the crown was bonded to the neighbouring teeth by light-cured composite. In the second patient the fractured crown was bonded to adjacent teeth without any further preparation. The latter treatment is simple and inexpensive, about 10% of the costs of a crown. Even after ten years, these cases are satisfactory both aesthetically and functionally, and no further complications have arisen. Conventional crown therapy may still be carried out on the remaining root-filled root. Etiological factors, as deep lingual defects due to abrasions, as well as different aspects of the therapy are discussed.
