Sammanfattning

Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common motor dysfunction in children and is caused by a non-progressive brain injury. Spasticity and dyskinesia may severely impair arm and hand function in children with CP. Injections of botulinum toxin is a new therapy, which is now common in Sweden. Recently, a multidisciplinary group has decided on a national strategy to evaluate and treat patients with cerebral palsy with three different indications for treatment. Treatment with botulinum toxin requires a close cooperation between all professionals that take care of the children with CP as well as with the families.
