Psykopati och hjärnavbildning - en litteraturgenomgång. Med fokus särskilt på funktionell magnetisk resonanstomografi
Sammanfattning
This review presents rapidly expanding knowledge in the field of brain imaging in relation to antisocial behaviour and psychopathy. The studies referred to propose that changes in the structure and function in parts of the frontal and temporal lobes are closely related to violent and antisocial behaviour and psychopathy. One application field within forensic psychiatry where this research might play a role in the future is risk assessments and risk prevention. Moreover, it might offer a deeper understanding of the dimensional aspects of interpersonal difficulties in perpetrators, such as lack of empathy and impulsiveness. At present however, there are a number of discrepant findings and uncertainties in this relatively new research field, which will be outlined and discussed.
