Sammanfattning
The article focuses the emergency services reality genre in television. The empirical focus in the article is the Swedish serial: “the Hospital”, quantitative textual analyses are made of all the 50 programs in the first season of the serial (autumn 2007). The focus in the serial is emergency and pre-hospital professionals and patients in acute situations. Less acute medical activities is underrepresented in the programmes. Reality-television may contribute to promote positive images of the hospital and their activities. The television company makes money of successful programmes. One important question concerns the potential benefits or disadvantages for the participating patients.
