Sammanfattning
The nursing staff on the dialysis unit at Aalborg Hospital experienced that sexuality was rarely discussed with the patients. Because the nursing staff have a desire to provide holistic care; because research shows that sexuality is an under-prioritised area in long-term dialysis patients and because the dialysis patients themselves expressed a wish that sexuality be placed on the agenda, a group of care personnel decided to intervene. The article gives an insight into how the working group approached the issue of patients' sexuality, including a description of the different approaches and interventions used. Today, approx. 3 years after the project commenced, there has been a significantly increased focus on the sexuality of dialysis patients.
