Sammanfattning
In this review the prevalence of male sexual dysfunctions with particular emphasis on aspects of Swedish sexual life is reported: Every forth sexually active Swedish male, aged 18 - 74 years, has during the last year had manifest sexual dysfunction often leading to low sexual satisfaction. The most common male sexual dysfunction is decreased sexual interest and the prevalence of premature ejaculation in almost twice as common as erectile dysfunction. Combinations of sexual dysfunctions are not uncommon and often co-occur with female partner's sexual dysfunction. Hence, sexual dysfunction is to a considerable extent a couples' problem. There is a close association between sexual dysfunction and dissatisfaction with partner relationship, family life and life as a whole. Many risk factors of somatic and psychological origin exist. In principle, sexual dysfunction does not differ from other problems seen in health-care. Thus adequate treatment strategies demand adequate differential diagnostic skills.
