Sammanfattning

The National Action Plan for Chlamydia Prevention for Young People 15-29 is constructed as a Logical Framework and based on an analysis by a broad group of stakeholders. The reasons behind the trebling of Chlamydia between 1997 and 2007 in Sweden seem to be significant increases in behavioural and societal risk factors while the protective factors have remained the same or even declined throughout the period. The analysis underscores the need to improve and, most of all, systematise work in the health care and in the school system in combination with more systematic information efforts targeting key staff as well as the young population. Evidence based methods need to be implemented broadly. The overall goal for the action plan is a change in knowledge, attitudes and behaviour for the age group 15-29 in Sweden. The action plan also sets targets for the preventive work in health care, for the improvement of sexuality education in schools and for efforts of communication and information. In the health care the need for evidence based counselling as well as increased testing among young men and improvement of contact tracing skills and organisation of contact tracing as well as clearer routines for care and efforts to minimise re-infections are highlighted as well as purchaser methodology to guarantee prevention in medical settings.
