Sammanfattning
Virtual learning is a new element in radiotherapist training. In 2007, the Oncology Unit at Århus Hospital became the first site in the world to use a 3D computer-animated accelerator, which is used for both theoretical and clinical training. The 3D-accelerator was installed in a Teaching centre, consisting of an IT-laboratory, classroom premises and a study room with reference library. In order to evaluate the possibilities and limitations of virtual learning, an extra team of nurses were employed to participate in the radiotherapist training. Using virtual learning it was possible to double the number of clinical training places. The initial test suggests that the participants achieve a good knowledge and understanding of how to plan and implement radiotherapy. However, further studies are required in order to document the effects.
