Sammanfattning
In December 2008 the The Affective Day Clinic opened at Gentofte Psychiatric Centre. The service is the first of its kind in Denmark. The Affective Day Clinic's function is to direct and streamline treatment of individual patients. There is a focus on use of the respective professional groups' core competencies, in order to achieve clear distribution of roles. Nurses in The Affective Day Clinic have a central role, since they - by virtue of their role as contact nurse - are involved in the patient's care throughout their course of treatment. The nurses also undertake cognitive discussions, with point of departure in the individual patient's resources.
Since its opening, the impression given of the clinic is that patients who have experienced a course of treatment at the Affective Day Clinic experience a significant improvement in their illness, have increased insight into their illness, an improved functional level, and coping mechanisms that enable them to manage their everyday lives.
