Förmakens fibrilleringsfrekvens möjligt prognosstöd vid förmaksflimmer. FAF-analys ger hopp om bättre terapival
Sammanfattning
Frequency Analysis of Fibrillation - FAF-analysis - is a computer-based technique where the QRST components are subtracted from the ECG and the dominating frequency of the remaining atrial signal is identified by Fast Fourier Transformation technique and expressed as fibrillations per minute (Fpm). This value, reflecting the refractoriness of the atrial myocardium, is explored in a series of initial clinical studies concerning its possible proarrhythmic potential. Preliminary clinical studies have illustrated that low Fpm values may indicate a successful effect of treatment with antiarrhythmic drugs, electrical cardioversion and catheter ablation procedures. FAF-analysis has therefore a potential to become a clinical tool for decision-making if patients with atrial fibrillation should be recommended antiarrhythmic treatments of different kinds, or if the treatment should be withheld due to likely failure.
