Sammanfattning

A questionnaire reveals that patients with colorectal cancer experience a link between the contact person scheme and fulfillment of their needs for nursing care. The aim of the study was to investigate whether the contact person scheme enables the needs of patients requiring nursing care to be met, and to investigate which factors influence whether patients are allocated a contact person. The questions included demographic factors and the patients' self-reported experiences of having a contact person; questions about admission and discharge interviews and questions about whether the patients had received advice and practical help. A total of 317 patients responded to the questionnaire and the results showed that patients allocated a contact person had their need for care met at a significantly higher level than those patients who did not. The relevance for clinical practice is that introduction of the contact person scheme, with the responsibilities it involves, has an influence on patients' experience of having their need for nursing care met.
