Sammanfattning

The issue of patient security has during recent years gained increasing attention. In other “high risk” organisations (nuclear power industry, aviation, off-shore technology) security has for long time been integrated in planning and processing. At Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm a training programme was initiated in 2003 with focus on management of paediatric emergency patients, since the staff in the emergency ward was often relatively unexperienced with critically ill infants and small children. In the authentic emergency room, common paediatric emergency situations are simulated. The training is multiprofessional and multidisciplinary, engaging the staff on duty. The introduction of advanced electronic equipment has significantly improved quality of training.
