BVC:s unika roll - att fånga upp autism tidigt. Erfarenheter av nya rutiner i barnhälsovården i Göteborg
Sammanfattning
Autism entails severe restriction in the capacity to communicate socially and to vary behaviour according to situation. Autism has symptom onset in the first years of life. It occurs in about one per cent of the general population. Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that currently does not have a unique biological marker. Insight into the early presentation of autism is crucial for early recognition. Well baby clinic staff and child health visitors are key figures in this context. Early recognition is a prerequisite for the early meaningful intervention that has been shown to positively affect outcome. There is a need for national screening guidelines within child health and well organised services providing expert diagnostics and long-term intervention for young children with autism.
