Sammanfattning
Cysts arising from the mesentery and omentum are rare lesions. They are however important to have in mind as differential diagnosis when patients present with a large belly, diffuse abdominal pain and a presumed ascites. This is especially true in children. We present a case of a four year old child who presented with those symptoms and had a 6 month doctor´s delay until correct diagnosis.
When receiving a pediatric patient with clinical picture that could be consistent with an abdominal cyst we strongly advocate an early consultation with a pediatric surgeon.
