Sammanfattning

Whipple’s disease is caused by the bacterium Tropheryma whipplei which can infect most organs of the body. The symptoms can be very varied. We describe a 69-year-old man with long-lasting arthropaty, diarrhea, weight loss, mitral stenosis and elevation of CRP-levels who was diagnosed with Whipple’s disease and rapidly recovered on treatment. Whipple’s disease is probably underdiagnosed and a higher degree of attention for the condition could be of benefit.
