Mental trötthet - subjektivt problem som kan skattas. Ny svensk självskattningsskala prövad på olika patientgrupper
Sammanfattning
Mental fatigue is common after a brain injury or a neurological disease, and for some persons it becomes a long-term problem that affects daily life. The increased mental fatigability occurs after activities which require cognitive effort, and when energy levels are depleted, it takes a long time to recover. A new self-assessment scale was constructed for mental fatigue and related symptoms most often occurring together, as emotional, sensory and cognitive problems. The scale has a high internal consistency and it is possible to separate diagnostic groups with mental fatigue from healthy subjects. The self-reported scale and related symptoms is suggested to be a valuable tool for assessment of mental fatigue in different diagnoses.
