We present the frequencies of children admitted 2003-2008 to Astrid Lindgren Childrens Hospital (serving 11 % of Swedish children) because of vaccine-preventable infections. With the exception of whooping-cough (5-10 cases per year, 0.6/1000 infants), there were few cases of those infections routinely vaccinated against. By contrast, there were 25-100 cases of influenza A or B, 150-350 cases of rotavirus and 35-50 cases of varicella per year.
