Sammanfattning

The article describes Sundhedshuset ("Health Centre") in Nørrebro and the health nurses' group-activity work methods, including Arabic and international mother and parent groups. In its 13 years of existence, the centre has gathered unique knowledge and experience that actively contributes to promote integration in Nørrebro. The activities are grounded in a demonstrated understanding of concepts such as integration, culture and health promotion. Health promotion comprises much more that relaying knowledge; it also encompasses compassion for the participants and helping them incorporate this knowledge with skills, attitudes and preferences, feelings and identities. In that light, the health nurses’ role and health-promoting work methods are highlighted. Inspiration is also derived from narrative methods. The article concludes with a description of the Centre's own evaluation tools.
