Sammanfattning
Aim: The objective of the study is to provide
an overview of Norwegian studies concerning drug use in pregnancy.
Material and method: Review of the literature.
Results and conclusion: Most pregnant women have a restrictive attitude towards medication. However, most women use one or more drugs during pregnancy. Herbal remedies are used by a considerable number of pregnant women who often believe that these products are safer than conventional drugs. Norwegian studies have showed an increased risk of malformations after exposure to antiepileptic drugs during pregnancy. No increased risk of teratogenicity, however, was found after exposure to triptans among migraineurs or long-term use of NSAIDs for rheumatic illnesses. Both pregnant women and health care personnel express a great need for information about drug safety during pregnancy. Diverging information between different information sources, however, is a challenge.
