Sammanfattning
This is a report concerning two newborn babies, born at fullterm, initially healthy and vigorous, found in critical condition, apnoeic and in need of resuscitation one hour after birth. The mothers had been given opioids, as a painrelieving medication, 6 and 7 hours respectivly prior to partus. The babies responded well to Naloxon given during resuscitation, and there where no other medical explanations found judging from clinical and laboratory data. After some days of intensive care treatment, both babies were fully recovered and there have so far been no neurological sequele at follow-ups. It is well known that babies can react with breathing depression from maternal opioidmedication during labour. Is there a time interval that could be considered safe? We asked our “medication information center” – See the answer in the article published on page ... The question is if we need national guidelines for how to insure babies when there mothers have received opioids during labour?
