Sammanfattning

1534 Swedish physicians (54,6 % of a random sample) have participated in a survey of working conditions and health. They were asked questions about having been officially reported for medical errors. 30% of the responders had been officially reported for medical error at least once during the past five years. This was more common among men than among women. Reports for medical errors were fewer in workplaces where the knowledge of more experienced physicians was taken into account in daily practice. Physicians who had been trained in research had a lower risk of being reported for medical error than others. Physicians who stated that ”keeping time” regulation (according to the law the medical care has to provide professional care within three months for most medical conditions) was important in medical prioritising had a higher risk of being reported for medical error than other physicians. Frequent re-organisations were associated with an elevated risk of being reported for medical error.
