Sammanfattning
Optimization of drug prescribing is a highly prioritized area and there is a need for electronic decision support for prescribers. The prescribing decision is multifaceted and general practitioners see patient safety and time saving as the biggest advantages. Until guidelines can be included in the electronic journals, it is necessary to find effective tools to motivate the doctors to use electronic instruments to increase the adherence to treatment guidelines. A closer examination of physician attitudes is needed. Just as important is the challenge to improve the IT communication between the different stakeholders, primary health care and pharmacy for a safer drug use in primary health care.
