Värdebaserad vård - strategi för effektivare svensk sjukvård. Vården bör organiseras utifrån vad som ger värde för patienten
Sammanfattning
The value-based health care (VBHC) framework as introduced by Porter and Teisberg in their book ”Redefining health care” emphasizes the need to re-focus health care systems towards value rather than volume, defining value as the health outcomes achieved per dollar spent. Value-creating activities and increased focus on the patient have attracted a great deal of attention in the Swedish health care debate. However, there is uncertainty regarding what ”value-based health care” actually means and how the framework could be applied in order to improve the Swedish health care delivery system. The present article begins to address these issues by providing an introduction to the major principles proposed by the VBHC framework and a brief discussion about its potential and limitations in relation to the Swedish context.
