Sammanfattning
This article is based on a qualitative study in which the aim was to examine how mental health workers used their own experiences in professional relationships. Key findings showed that the six participants used their experiences in four different ways: (i) to shape who they were as a person in interactions with others; (ii) to recognise and understand others; (iii) to formulate good questions, and (iv) to share their own experiences. Their experiences influenced their inner dialogues, shaped the mind and affected what they chose to emphasise. In this way, their experiences also guided their outer dialogues and actions.
