Sammanfattning
This paper is an overview of the present recommendations on duration of breastfeeding and timing of introduction of solids to healthy, term infants in Europe. Health aspects of exclusive breastfeeding and partial breastfeeding during the first six months, breastfeeding between 6-12 months and continued breastfeeding after 12 months are discussed in a Swedish context as well as timing and mode of introduction of complementary foods into the infant´s diet.
