Sammanfattning
Internal nasal dilators are used in order to improve breathing in sports, and to prevent snoring. Nasal foreign bodies can cause obstruction, purulent secretion, and pain. In children, unilateral symptoms like these are a well-known signal to suspect a foreign body. We describe a case, in which a male adult had accidentally during sleep inhaled a part from a nasal dilator into his right nasal cavity. As he was unaware of this when he woke up with heavy pain, there was suspicion of subarachnoidal hemorrage, which was excluded by computed tomography. As his pain persisted, and he had symptoms of sinusitis, he was treated with antibiotics with temporary relief. Inspection of the nasal cavity after decongestion revealed the nasal dilator (Nasaline Snooze) embedded anteriorly-superiorly, and after its removal his symptoms resolved completely. Inspection of the nasal cavity after decongestion is important in the evaluation of nasal symptoms.
