MRSA-spridning på vårdcentraler. Trolig orsak: bristande rutiner för städning, rengöring och materialhantering
Sammanfattning
MRSA in primary health care facilities
From 2008 to 2011 spread of MRSA in eight primary health care facilities in Skåne County, Sweden, was identified. Spa-typing and review of previous health care contacts and household contacts for the MRSA cases made it probable that transmission had occurred at the wound care clinic at the primary health care facility. The exact route of spread at the different clinics could not be established. Lack of adherence to basic hygiene precautions among health care personal, contamination of wound care material or contamination of the environment in the treatment room or waiting room are known routes of spread are assumed to explain the spread. Most of the MRSA-positive patients had several visits at the primary health care facilities with bandaging of skin wounds and several cures of antibiotic treatment without any wound cultures taken. It is of great importance that good adherence to hygiene precautions, thorough routines for patient care and cleaning of the environment is applied in these clinics. Frequent culturing of infected wounds or other skin conditions facilitates early detection of MRSA and may prevent spread of the bacteria among patients.
