Sammanfattning

Pediatric sleep disorders have frequently been a neglected topic in clinic. That may, however, be about to change due to increased awareness about sleep issues, for example, the reports about the Pandemrix/Narcolepsy tragedy that has occurred in Sweden and other countries. Sleep is intricately connected to children’s health and well-being. Unidentified and untreated sleep disturbances and sleep disorders induce adverse daytime consequences and may place children at risk for poor health outcomes. Adequate clinical management of children’s sleep disorders requires clinical knowledge about the different types of sleep disorders that may occur in young people and, often, multidisciplinary treatment approaches.
