Sammanfattning
Reliable data for pediatric clinical chemistry reference ranges have long been in short supply. In 2012 and 2013 three major projects from Sweden, Denmark and Canada have been published in which blood samples from healthy children have been collected prospectively in kindergartens and schools. In the population-based Swedish study blood samples were obtained from 701 healthy children. Age- and gender-specific pediatric reference intervals were defined for approximately 50 general clinical chemistry and hematology components. The data generated is primarily applicable to a Caucasian population, but could be used by any laboratory if verified for the local patient population.
