Sammanfattning

Rapid increase of new illicit drugs and mixed misuse resulting in new types of lesions, require more precise drug screening. Two interview methods are compared: traditional interview vs. a »drug list« as cognitive support tool. Patients (n?=?96), applying for or participating in OST (Opiate Substitution Treatment), first, after an open question, listed the drugs they had used and then marked those injected. Thereafter the drug list was administered for marking drugs used and injected. The list includes 91 substances (125 labels) and four fictive drugs. For 85 of 91 substances, respondents reported misuse and injection significantly more often when using the drug list. No fictive drugs were marked. The time needed was the same for both methods. Using a drug list is a simple and rapid method with improved quality in exploring drug history.
