Sammanfattning
Fear of falling, functional limitations and activity restrictions are common after a hip fracture. Physical activity on prescription (PaP) aims at increasing patients’ activity and self-efficacy. The aim of this pilot study was to compare PaP as an adjunct to physiotherapy with only physiotherapy. 17 matched pairs were included. Balance confidence and physical activity were measured at baseline and four months after discharge. At four months the PaP group had improved Falls efficacy in self care (p = 0.02) and activity level (p = 0.04) compared to matched controls. PaP was prescribed by a physiotherapist and an important part was a follow-up after discharge. In our study only three out of the 17 patients in the PaP group received follow-up, which may have affected the result.
