Sammanfattning

Persistent genital arousal syndrome (PGAD) in women implies a spontaneous unwanted persistent genital arousal, which is not related to sexual desire/interest. Prevalence and aetiology are unknown; several psychological and medical theories exist. Co-morbidity with restless legs syndrome and overactive bladder has been reported. There is no evidence-based treatment. Since the women affected suffer considerably, the condition has to be taken seriously. This case report describes a trial of hormonal treatment postpartum in order to prolong a symptom free period during breast-feeding, and, at recurrence of severe symptoms, a successful treatment with levodopa/benserazide.
