Sammanfattning
The article deals with the distinction between the clinical researcher and the researching clinician, and argues that therapist and researcher roles can be united in a productive manner. This is done through a focus on reflexivity, closeness/distance, and the boundary between these different roles. An expansion of the definition of research is involved. To research is not only to study something, but to create something. Through the concept of diffraction, the constructionist aspect of such a perspective on research is clarified. This brings research and therapy together in a joint project that points towards an action research-oriented approach, together with a concept of therapy that does not point towards repair, but towards creation as an overall goal. This perspective is deepened through methodological experiences undertaken in a qualitative study of therapist’s descriptions of their own practice, in which the researcher is one of these therapists.
