The National Board of Health and Welfare recommends new oral anticoagulants (NOAC) or warfarin to all high risk patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. We report a
structured care process of patients on NOAC at a nurse-coordinated clinic. Patients are referred for initiation of NOAC treatment. They meet specially educated nurses who use
checklists that ensure initiating the right NOAC, determining appropiate dosage and to suggest a follow-up plan. The Swedish quality register for anticoagulation (Auricula) is
used to follow the patients.
