Sammanfattning
Sexual dysfunction is a common adverse effect of antidepressant treatment and a main reason for non-compliance with treatment. Different antidepressant agents are
associated with different degrees of dysfunction, which is thought to depend on the agent’s pharmacological profile. Agents with serotonergic activity, such as selective
serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) and venlafaxine, yield the highest rate of sexual dysfunction. Non-SSRI agents such as duloxetine, reboxetine and mirtazapine have fewer
sexual side effects than SSRI and venlafaxine. Agomelatine and bupropion are similar to placebo.
