Sammanfattning
Background: Compression stockings are an important
part of the treatment of chronic venous disorders and should
be put on before getting up in the morning. Most textbooks in
nursing and guidelines for the treatment with compression
stockings recommend this. Those who receive help from home
care to put on compression stockings, has often got up in the
morning and then the stockings are put on too late according
to the guidelines. Is it acceptable practice?
Knowledge base: The article is based on literature Health
Library databases, Ebrary and Google books.
Results: After reviewing relevant literature, the recommendations
are emphasized that states that if the compression
stockings are to put on after rising from bed, it is useful to
elevate the legs for twenty to thirty minutes prior to putting
on the stockings
Conclusion: It is possibly weak evidence that it is okay to
put on compression stockings after the home care recipient has
been raised, if certain precautions are followed.
Implications for practice: If it is essential that the home
care recipient should have the least amount of edema in the
lower-extremity before compression stocking be putting on,
the recipient must get better information when he / she starts
with compression stockings. Clinicians should be informed about
the routines home care services have, as they help users with
compression stockings.
